It is a free look and sometimes you get lucky
This turned out to be a successful visit. I typically stop in to the Cricket if I’m coming from the east, downtown or the burbs. It is an easy stop that allows for very limited investment and the opportunity to move along to other spots nearby. The details are well articulated elsewhere, but parking lot behind the club, even though the address is on Michigan Avenue. The parking lot is fairly large and well paved and parking is free.
There is no door fee, so you get a free view of what might be in front of you without any monetary investment. In addition, the bathroom here is nice by SC standards for facilities that don’t have a bathroom troll. So worst case, if you are not sure the talent is up to snuff or the crowd is not to your liking, you can walk in past the door man for free, then wander to the bathroom diagonally across the room, use some decent facilities and wander back out while accessing the talent and the crowd. If neither feels right, just move on down the road.
If you decide to sit down, there are booths on two walls, the west wall booths provide the best viewing as the south wall has several rows of tables between you and the stage. The stage is two poles, on. OST day shifts, when I frequent here, there will be one dancer on the stage at a time. They start on the pole by the DJ booth and then move to the other pole where they drop their top, so for viewing I find being close to pole 2 is more interesting amd you also are closest to them if before the exit the stage if you want to make an impression. I typically sit at the small tables around three sides of the stage. This gives me the ability to scope things out and have an extra chair if a gal wants to wander over and sit down. The bar chairs face the wrong way and are super awkward in my view.
