Solid afternoon option
I stopped by Landing Strip on a recent afternoon. Valet parking is mandatory at $7 but I parked my own car and handed my keys to the valet. After my visit to the club, I paid the valet and picked up my keys and walked to my car. The mandatory valet, especially when street parking is available and safe, is one of the few annoying features of the Landing Strip.
The club entrance is up a set of stairs where I was greeted by a woman who asked me where I wanted to sit. I selected a booth, which has a charge at night but not during the afternoon. By the way, there is no admission charge in the afternoon. The club was pretty empty of customers, maybe 5 other male customers and me. The waitress was prompt in bringing me an overpriced bottled beer ($8 or so).
I was approached immediately by the least attractive dancer in the place who asked if I wanted company (at least she asked, rather than simply sitting down). I declined her offer saying that I had just arrived. I enjoyed the stage show. Two dancers rotating through the stage at a time, eventually getting topless by the second song. Most of the dancers were reasonably attractive, with a mix of skin tones (maybe 3 or 4 women of color out of the dozen dancers). The stage is elevated about 2-3 feet and shaped like an airplane (thus the name, and the club is also close to the Detroit airport). This makes it easy to tip the dancers and chat briefly.
