Fun with Hazel
In Reno on business this week, I had never been to any of the local clubs during previous trips. I had some time to kill so decided to hit one of the local clubs and Fantasy Girls won the coin toss. I arrived at about 5:45, driving through what seemed to be a mostly run down, industrial area. Lots of little motels around. There were about ten cars in the lot, wasn't sure what that would mean on the inside. I did expect to pay a cover since I wasn't sure if it was still considered "daytime" for no cover. I walked in, there was no cover and no one was manning the front area, walked through the metal detector which did not go off even though I had a phone. The place was very dark and it took a moment for my eyes to adjust from the bright sunlight, trying to walk to the bar without tripping over a chair or walking into a table.
I took a seat at the bar which is on the other side of the room, a fairly long bar with a mirrored wall behind it that is covered with shelves of alcohol bottles. So you can't really see anything in the mirror. There were two other patrons at the bar engaged in a lively conversation. As I waited for the bartender I scanned the rest of the room. There is a main stage in the middle of the room and two satellite stages, one on each end of the room. There are tables throughout the rest of the room many of which appeared to be placed to avoid direct contact with a spotlight. Lots of lights for the stage. Unfortunately, there no dancers on stage and at first I did not see any in the room. Rock music was playing. After I ordered my $4 beer, I did finally see that a dancer was sitting with a patron at one of the tables against the wall at the end of the bar. It was very dark there and I could not make her out. I saw one other guy at a table alone. So that made for 5 patrons total, including me.
I nursed my beer about 15 mins waiting for a dancer to take the stage, none did. I asked the untalkative bartender if there was anyone dancing and she said one would be out soon. One finally did come out but not on stage. Instead she took a seat next to me and introduced herself as Diana. I took her to be a Latina and she was very nice but totally not my type, much too large for my liking. She tried to get handsy with me but soon got the message and went her way, which was not to the stage. So still no girls on stage. Another guy came in and took a seat at the bar two bar stools down from me. He was definitely a regular based on his greetings with the bartender (she talks!). Diana came back and took the seat between us and they greeted each other like long lost friends. Another Latina dancer, also large, came and joined them. After some chatting they moved to a table. By this time I ordered a second beer, thinking a shift might be coming in or someone else would come out that I found at least somewhat hot, but I also knew a previous reviewer had said they just trickle in. Turns out it was 6:15 and happy hour was over, so the beer was now $7.
