Visited: Wednesday Evening

This was my second visit to the DC. I had visited this place a few weeks ago on a Saturday for a bachelor party. I got pretty smashed then, so I don't remember a whole lot from that night. We didn't stay long--maybe like 45 mins--but I remember it had been fun. So I decided to fly solo this time. Got there a little after 8:00pm on a Wednesday. Doorman scanned my I.D. and I got hit with a $20 cover charge!!!!! I tried asking what the hell that was all about, especially since it was a weekday and last time I came I had paid less. But he more or less shrugged it off and told me I could pay it or not. Even though I was a little miffed, I did come with cash to burn, so I grungingly handed over a $20 and went in.

The club is dim and spacious. There are two bars as you enter: one a little behind you to the left, and the one at the far back which is the main one, I guess, since it was the only one open. There are some cordoned-off areas along the perimeter for VIP/bottle service, but they were empty this night. Out on the floor, there are four round poleless stages surrounded by a dozen chairs. A bunch of smaller tables/chairs choke the spaces between. This gives the club a very snug feel, which is not necessarily a bad thing on a moderately-paced evening, but on Saturday, from what I remember, it can get pretty crowded about 10 or so. I remember it had been tough to grab a dancer's attention, let alone elbow your way to one of the stages.

Happily, this wasn't the case this Wednesday. The place wasn't busy, but it had a good vibe going. There were about 10 patrons and maybe three dancers. Only one girl was on stage which was surrounded by 6-7 younger gents who I think were celebrating someone's 21st b-day. A few PLs were lurking in the dark. I headed straight for the bar and chatted with the bartender for a bit. He told me more ladies would be arriving soon. He was cool--and older gent who, much to my delight, knew how to make a Negroni!! So that made happy. Drinks run about $10 not including a tip--pretty steep, but not completely unexpected. Still, I was feeling pretty burnt on that cover charge and was starting to get a little buyer's remorse having spent thirty bucks right outta the gate.
