can be fun.
When I can get a chance to head down to Michigan Avenue, Bogarts is always a reliable last resort. If you keep your expectations low, there’s a chance you might be pleasantly surprised at times. Some weeks back, I wanted to see if I could find myself a bargain gem. So walked in to this fine establishment around 2-230 on a nice sunny Saturday afternoon.
Real dark when you enter this place. So takes a minute or two to adjust after paying the man the $5 entry. Handed me a drink ticket and I found a spot at a table under the dj booth. As you walk in, bar on the back wall, stairs to vip just left. Far right wall is where the bathrooms are and dj booth to its right in the corner. 3 poles here. One main stage. 2 smaller satellite stages. In my experience, they will be more utilized once it’s busy enough. Otherwise just kind of used for seating. This is more of a local blue collar dive bar feel. A regulars hangout spot if you will. Kind of a shit hole. Comfortable and accommodating for people of all walks of life none the less.
Waitresses are always pretty nice. Not pushy to buy drinks. But are very attentive on your drink levels and when to come ask if you want another. In the past they were a little more aggressive to purchase rounds. Not as much anymore. Maybe it’s just a staff thing? Just my experience anyway. $7 domestic I usually get. Normally I just visit these places for the women. So my bar tab usually remains pretty cheap. If I’m at Bogarts, I’m trying for an in and out visit if you catch my drift.
