Afternoon with Candi
I arrived at Candi's around 1:30 last Wednesday. The club is located immediately off the Statesville Rd exit on I-85. A bouncer checks your ID and pats you down thoroughly before entering. There was no cover charge at this time. Like other reviews have mentioned, the club is very dark inside, with limited seats. The music was all hip hop but was not too loud until the DJ arrived around 2:45. Once he arrives, it is difficult to hear anything. The club was clean but lighting causes this to be more of a guess. The restroom was small, not as clean, and were out of paper towels. There were around 5 other guys in the club at this time, mostly sitting with their phones out.
There were around 5 dancers walking around when I arrived and others walking in over the next 45 minutes. I ordered a beer and sat down against the wall, facing the bar, which seems this best position to be in for dances. I would not advise sitting at tables in the middle of the club, as dancers and patrons have to go through you to get to bar or restrooms. Most of the dancers did not seem happy to me. 3 of the dancers were overweight, with 2 being slim and athletic. Most dancers were walking around with their phones out. After 15 minutes, a small, petite dancer came up and asked to sit down. She was great conversation and received 4 dances from here. By 3:00 there were around 13 to 15 dancers in the club and most were attractive (body wise), with around 5 being overweight. All the dancers were black, with the bartender being an older white woman. After the DJ arrived and more dancers were walking around, you need to expect less conversations and dancers just walking around asking if you want a dance. Most ladies were treating this as work only from what I could observe. No stage dancing, outside of 1 or 2 dancers just standing or kneeling, shaking their ass.
In this economic climate, money goes a long way in this club compared to others. Lap dances were 5 dollars and the mich ultras I ordered were 5 or 6 dollars a piece. You need to keep up with the changing of songs, as the DJ blends them together with no start or stop areas. If you say yes to a dance, tell her to start at the next song. No cover charge before 7, based on my conversation with the dancer from earlier. Lap dances go to 10 dollars at 7;00. I left the establishment around 4:45. By this time, more guys were filtering in and space was becoming an issue. I cannot imagine this place on a Friday or Saturday night due to the small size.
