Nice Place, Friendly People, Boring Dances.
I saw Coconut Caberet (hereafter referred to as "CC) show up on TUSCL a few weeks ago and thought I'd check it out since it's less than an hour from me. I went in with low expectations since the only other club nearby is Cafe Risque, which isn't so much a club as a truck stop with nudity and air dances.
I showed up a little after 8PM. The entrance is in the back. I paid a $10 cover and walked into a nicely appointed empty bar. Grabbed a seat and began to chat with the bartender, a friendly brunette. I ordered a soda ($2) and we exchanged small talk for a while. I learned a bit about the club from her: they've been open since late May/early June, the dancers don't start until 9PM, there were two dancers that would be working this evening, the owner put a lot of $$ into advertising on Instagram.
The dancers showed up a bit before 9 PM and the computer program they were using as a DJ announced in a British, female voice to give it up for Lola. Lola was an attractive spinner who I later learned used to teach dance. She has pink hair and apparently also works at NSG in Jacksonville under the name Sabrina. She did a 3 song set on stage during which the robo-DJ encouraged us to tip. Top stayed over Lola's taped nipples the entire set.
