Not Terrible
I was staying a couple of blocks away and took the easy walk over to The Penthouse Club at about 10:00 p.m. It’s right off Bourbon Street at the edge of the French Quarter bar district. The front of the club is a row of French doors that open into a large anteroom with an outside bar. The door girl collects the $12 cover charge from behind the outside bar.
The club is pretty nice and upscale looking. There is an elevated, VIP/party area immediately to the right as you enter, past that is a stairway going to an upper level (I never went upstairs). There is also a bar along the far right wall. It was not in use the night I was there. The main bar is to the left and has a niche in it with a stage. That stage was never used while I was there. It took a seat at the bar and ordered a beer, which was a pricey $8.25. There was a light crowd, mostly youngish, hipster types, but a couple of older looking degenerates as well.
There are two sort of oval shaped stages in the center of the club. The girls start at the far one, do two dances, and then rotate to the stage to the stage closer to the entrance. There were may 10 dancers working, most white spinner types. I think I saw one or two AAs. They were generally good looking, but not spectacular, and a couple that were kind of substandard. They were mostly 7ish, maybe a few 8s, a couple of 5s.
