Sam's is back. I stopped by after getting a haircut downtown before braving the traffic back to Pasadena. Daytime there was no cover charge. No masks on staff or customers. Went in at around 2pm and I think I paid $6 or $7 for a Modelo. Dancers were crowding around a few of the tables where PLs were raining singles and appeared to have been for the past 20 minutes or more. Girls were not super active on stage but they were hotter than the usual day shift workers you would find at any of the other topless bars in LA. Parking is free and easy on the street out front. Can't complain if it is that easy to drop in for a beer at 2pm and enjoy some ass and titties for under $10. Everything I want in a day shift topless bar. But don't be cheap, tip the girls. As I've seen in other clubs lately, the PLs are, for whatever reason, preferring to drop stacks of cash on tips for girls that repetitively twerk in place at their table and not on lap dances. Sam's is not exactly a high mileage lap dance place, so it makes sense here, but I didn't see any lap dances go down on this visit. I've been to Sam's at night (pre-pandemic) and honestly I prefer the day shift if you can make it fit your schedule. Way more relaxed, way less sketchy crowd, and the girls are maybe a little more mellow. With no cover during the day it is easy to drop in and skip town if it looks dead. This visit it was very much alive.
