Not a shining Emerald

First time to a club since BC. Used to stop at Katch when going thru Knoxville but it's closed so I tried out Emerald. Sort of "out of town" location compared to Watch but easy to find. I arrived about 12:30 on Friday night and stayed until close to closing. Nice mix of dancers, both W and AA spinners, some nicely curved girls and one BBW dancer. Clientele a mix of college kids, older white guys (like me), and some construction workers. Chill vibe -- BYOB. Mixers reasonably priced. I hung out a long while before taking to any dancers. They seemed largely to have "settled" into conversations with individuals and groups and hung out there other than dancing. No promotions for dances while I was there. There was a longish haired dirty blonde (Angel? Angelica?) that I approached for a dance after her crew left. It was awkward (no conversation -- as you see I'm not sure if her name). She told me VIP was $30 per song. We went to the VIP. Dance was fine, some real grinding but no exploration, but I think she was ready to call it a night/not into it. I had my eye on a tall yellow blonde w dark eyes and a kind of goth vibe but she sat at a table with a guy for two hours. I left Abit after 2 when many of the girls started leaving, although the club was still pretty full of guys. Overall, it was good to "get back out there" but this was not a great experience for me in comparison to BC at Katch. Maybe going a bit earlier in the night would have been better...
