Despite Its Flaws, I Liked It – But I’m Easily Amused

I was in the area overnight, and on the advice of local TUSCL counsel who made several recommendations, I decided to check this place out. He described it as an iconic venue that’s definitely like a box of chocolates – you never know what you’re going to get. I was intrigued enough to take my chances.

Some details: Visited on a Saturday night from 10:15-11:30. Free parking, $10 cover, no ID check, pat-down, metal detector, or COVID protocols in place. Bottled water at the bar was $3.50, served up by a delightful blonde bartender who was definitely the prettiest girl working.

This is a very laid-back place, without much of a crowd for what I might consider, in a non-urban area, prime time. To me, it had a very rural feel, complete with country and rock music. There were a couple of relaxed old white guys (like me) and a handful of rowdy guys in their twenties straight from central casting when the call went out for “good old boys.”
