Finding a Unicorn

I was visiting my friend Wongy in Detroit. We decided to go to the Flight Club for lunch as it was Tuesday and Lamb Chops were the speciality. He did indeed have the lamb chops but I opted for the club sandwich. We turned his car over to the valet and looked around. There is a rather large tent to the parking lot side of the club. We found out that the tent was for after hours and we entered through the front door. I was wearing a hoodie over a decent shirt and pants but was immediately accosted by the door matron that I had to check it. So I did and we entered the club.

We were seated at a table near the stairs leading to the runway. The runway is in the center of the club with tables and booths all around. A pole is at the end opposite the stairs, as well as on two small stages. A bar is at the north end of the room and the restrooms and presumably the dressing rooms at the south. There is a second level with a bar and the upper entrance to the stairs from which the dancers descend onto the runway.

We took our seats at the table and placed our orders with Ada, our waitress who was very efficient. So efficient that she tried to take my friend’s plate before he was finished. While waiting for our food we begin to watch the parade of very lovely ladies. Two would be on the big stage at all times; one by the pole and one by the stairs. After several songs the one on the pole would migrate to the side stage and the one by the stairs would go to the pole. It was very interesting to note that she could not leave the stage until another dancer descended the stairs. It took an hour and a half to see the entire rota.
