Had an errand to run over by the airport on Tuesday afternoon, so I thought I would check out Oasis for the first time in a over a year and half. Figured if Oasis was dead I could slide to Purple Orchid and see if it is really as bad as some of the latest reports say.

Oasis had minimal covid protocols in place. Temp check at the metal detector, mask required to enter, but not once seated. Dancers wore masks while walking around but not while dancing.

Oasis is a large and comfortable club, with a rectangular bar surrounding two stages. The bar probably seats at least 40 people on the stools and is surrounded by tables around the outside. Basically it is perfect for social distancing during the daytime, as it was designed to have hundreds of PLs packed in on Friday and Saturday nights. Last time i was there there were some renovations going on and they are done, but I didnt really notice any difference besides the lack of scaffoldings. They could use some better TVs if they want to be a game day destination -- the big rear projection systems looked dated, low res, and lacking brightness. The only reason I mention the TVs is that I have been there when there wasn't anyone dancing or wasn't anyone worth watching. Luckily that was not the case today. DJ played an amusing retro set of 90s industrial/pop like NIN and Marilyn Manson which I look back on fondly, but can't imagine most of the dancers were born yet when the music was current.
