It was the Best of BJs. It was the Worst of BJs.
Saturday evening I crossed the border near dark (which always makes me slightly uncomfortable, but I have never had any issues, even when crossing at midnight). I crossed on the Mexican side, because I have a 180-day visa. I held it in my hand with my passport in case I was asked to display it, but the agent monitoring the line barely looked at me. (FYI, I will never be mistaken for a Mexican.)
Got to HK and happen to see a favored mesero on my way to check in, Raul, getting was ready for work. Due to Covid, I have not seen him in over a year and the last time I saw him he was working at CC. A good guy who can be trusted.
Checked into Hotel Cascadas after passing through Security Theater. I walked thought the metal detector while the security guard was digging through my bag. It beeped, but he was so focused on the bag he missed it. He was also someone I had seen (and tipped) several times before. (The first time through Security, I always tip the guards a couple of bucks. After that, they usually waive me around the metal detectors.) He wasn’t very through; I could have put anything at the bottom of the bag and he would not have found it. Tough for him to multi-task.
