I tried it so you don't have to...

As a Sarasota local, I always end up going to Tampa or Clearwater when looking for a fun night out. I have been to Cheetah a couple of times and while it's nice they serve alcohol, it just seems overly expensive for not a lot of action and attention. This past weekend a buddy of mine and I needed a break from the Tampa/Clearwater scene and wanted to find try some place new and wound up in the parking lot of the Peak-A-Boo Lounge. From the time of arrival, I knew what I was in for, and there were a few groups in the parking lot thinking the same and pondering whether a $15 cover was even worth the entrance.

I will help out any future potential patrons, it's not. We went inside and when I say the inside is tiny, I mean it's fucking SMALL. There was about 6 of us trying to get in, so I had a smoke as it took about 5 minutes to get everyone through the tight entrance. The walls are all lined with seats and tables and in the middle is a stage also lined with seats. No one was sitting at the stage and all of the outside tables (maybe 20-25) were taken by customers aside from 4. We got our seats and waited about 10 minutes to be approached for our drink order.

The waitress was surprisingly cute and personable and if the dancers followed her mold it may have been an alright night. That however was not the case. In the little under an hour we were there, we were mean mugged by some unfriendly regulars, realized they do not have private dance rooms and got to watch some overly aggressive old drunks guys get handsy with some dancers and enjoyed some $14 drinks. Of the 6-7 girls working, not one of them compared to even the worst you would see in Tampa.
