Take II

After a long absence I went back to That One Place, formerly Uncle Joe's. The place has had some work done, but it still has a long way to go to be fresh looking. The bar is in good shape and the stools are acceptable, but the walls and ceiling have suffered over the years. In the bar area there is a pool table that actually gets some use. The bathroom almost makes you want to go outside behind the building.

The crowd is laid back and friendly. Sometimes they talk, but mostly everybody minds their own business and talks with the dancer who approaches them. Beer and pop are $2. Most hard liquor is $5. The girls don't really hustle drinks, but will occasionally ask you to buy them a drink if they want one. More recently than in the past the girls don't waste much time with chit chat; they usually ask you in the first couple minutes if you want some dances. My answer is, " of course, I can drink at home."

Dancers are 3 - 7. Mileage varies, but is lower than in the past generally. They open at noon and usually close at 8PM, but the bartender said they will stay open later if there is a good crowd and the girls are still there. This is a "private club" and I did pay $5 for a membership a few years ago. You are supposed to have a member sponsor you to get a membership, but I don't think anybody does. If you look OK they take your $5 and write your name on a tablet behind the bar.... if they can find it.
