I had never been to any clubs in the Baltimore area before, and I had heard that while the clubs in Baltimore were better than the clubs you can find in the DC area just an hour south, Baltimore clubs were still not that great compared to clubs in other parts of the country, such as Miami and Atlanta. I had wrapped up work and had a few hours to kill before flying out of BWI, so I decided to check out Gentlemen’s Gold Club because it wasn’t located in the infamous “Block” area. It’s my understanding that The Block can be a bit unsafe, and I didn’t want to deal with traffic and risk being late for my flight by going to a club in the heart of the city. GGC is on the edge of Baltimore, and located about 20-25 min from the airport.

GGC is located along a busy highway, and there’s a famous “Pit Beef” dive in the parking lot that’s been featured on “Diner’s Drive-in and Dives.” GGC is a medium to large sized mid-tier mixed club, and there’s a small parking lot. I felt completely safe and comfortable parking my rental there. I arrived around 3:00, and there was no door girl and no cover charge during the day. Masks are required at all times except when you’re actively eating and drinking. Masks are also required when you’re walking around. A security guy took my temperature when I walked in, and there was no ID check or waiver required to be signed. I washed my hands in the men’s room as soon as I got there to ensure that my hands were corona-free The restroom was clean and in good shape, and no troll at that time of day.

The center of the club is dominated by a long runway/dance stage that has a single pole. The pictures on the website of the interior are accurate, except that they’ve removed all of the low cushioned chairs and tables, and also all the chairs along the rail of the stage. Almost all seating is now high-tops with four hard chairs at each high-top, though there were two low tables with hard chairs. I’m thinking that they put all hard furniture in the club for ease of disinfecting. Music at the club tends to be a bit hop-hop-ish, with pop songs mixed in.
