Finally, a beer with a view!

Overnighting in Casper last week gave me the chance to finally go out in a state that isn't experiencing a scary climb in Covid infections. Up on a hill, Racks is located in an industrial area on a service road parallel Route 26. The parking is directly in front of a double doored clear glass entry with a straight view to the stage before you even enter (why didn't a place like that exist near me when I was a kid?).

So, wearing a mask I showed up at 8pm on a Sunday. The maskless door guy looked me over funny when I paused in front of him. I asked what the cover was, he said none and waved me in. I soon realized the funny look was probably for wearing a mask to a place where literally all the 12+ patrons and 8+ workers were without masks. (Technically, all the girls had masks down around their necks like a fashion accessory- maybe there's some unenforced ordinance to have it?) Oh well, when in Rome I thought, and (probably stupidly) pulled off my mask.

The inside decor was more akin to a bare bones road house bar than a strip joint. The crowd was a totally local scene of what looked like young oil workers. I got a beer for 4 bucks at the bar to the right and took a seat at the stage left of the doors. A sizable space with multiple pool tables and a mechanical bull off in the back tell me this must have been a real party scene pre covid. The large rectangular stage was split into two by dancer stairs to get up. They were only using the stage closest to the bar. The girls were doing sets of three, generally getting topless by the last song. All six dancers were a bit past their prime, with moderate enthusiasm in their dances. 4 Caucasian, 1 Asian, 1 Black. Almost all would pull you up for a motorboat after you tipped them a few. Oddly, none were giving any sales pitch for dances. They all seemed happy enough to collect our dollars on stage and hang out with their local friends at the pool tables between their sets. Looked to be a couple of dance booths with curtains on the wall, both empty for the duration of my visit.
