Slow But Sexy

I have never been able to check out Des Moines-area strip clubs on previous visits in town, so I took advantage of some solo evening downtime this past weekend to go nudie bar-hopping. This was the first place on my agenda, and it ended up being the last as well since I hit my budget limit pretty quickly - and I don't mean that as a negative.

The place is not easy to see from the road in the dark, as they don't have a sign out by the road. It looks like a former warehouse, and it has one of the most unusual layouts I've ever seen on the inside: there are at least three different levels accessible to the public (the dancers apparently have their prep area in the second story), with stages on each level. The entryway is the highest level and has the main stage, with rooms for private dances in the lowest level. The lower levels are in the center and visible from certain angles on the entry level, giving a balcony-like effect if you walk the circuit around them. There are also stairs connecting the upper to first sub-level stage. The establishment is BYOB for alcohol (though they will provide ice) and has only vending machines for snack/non-alcoholic drink service; no waitresses at all. They had no mask requirement the night I was there and no one was wearing one.

I arrived around 11:15 p.m. on what I was later told was an unusually slow Friday night; maybe 15-20 other customers were present. Because of that, they only had the top stage running, with each dancer doing two songs; usually they did one topless and one full nude, but this varied some. I never got an exact count on the dancers, but I at least briefly talked to six or seven and saw a few more, so maybe 12-15 range? Body types and ethnicities varied widely, and apparently a whole carload of them were up from Kansas City, a trip they do each weekend.
