Open but still odd
Stopped in to Silk in Middleton a couple weeks after they opened to see what strip clubbing in a Silk club is like during the Coronavirus. Went in around 8:30 and there was a decent-sized crowd. No one was wearing a mask and everything appeared to be business as usual which seems to be the way this is now all going to go as we pretend there isn't a virus floating around. Bough a mid priced beer from the male bartender and after paying my 10 buck cover and sat at the end of the bar trying to at least social distance from the other clientele and to see if a lady would stop over to chat. I watched a few of the three song sets from the bar and dropped a few dollars as the grils did the Wisconsin tip walk. After about a half hour a cute brunette stopped over and told me it was her first night back at work. She sat next to me and I bought her a beer. I could tell she was not that comfortable with things still. She kept her hands to herself and never offered a dance. She told me she had to come back to work but was finding it difficult to keep her mind on work while she was there. I asked if they were still running everything the same and she said the bosses told them all the same guidelines are in place but they can wear masks if they want. She said she was going to but no one else was so she didn't. She told me they were actually going to be closing Saturday and Sunday because the old owner of Silk apparently made some kind of racist posts online that were getting some attention and even though he doesn't own the club anymore the new owners are showing support for the protests by closing for the weekend. Eventually I tipped her a few bucks for her time and headed out to hit the road since it was clear she really wasn't going to be comfortable with a dance even if I asked.
