Thursday evening at Red Garter

I visited Red Garter Saloon in Key West on Thursday March 5, 2020 from about 9:15 to 10:45 pm. The club is located on Duval Street about a couple of blocks from the north end. There isn’t really any parking in this area, I walked the mile from my hotel near the south end of Duval. This club is part of “Rick’s Entertainment Complex” a group of bars, dance clubs etc. There are actually two entrances, one off of the street and another from within the entertainment complex. There was no cover, no ID check and only a cursory wanding. It’s a long and rather narrow space with the short end along the street. As you enter from the street the bar is on the left and the front stage on the right with some low stools around it. A few high top tables are scattered around, there isn’t much space for tables anywhere in this club. Past this part of the club is a hallway with one lap dance room on the left, with saloon type swinging doors and open couches with at most room for 4 couples. On the right are the rest rooms and the dancers dressing room. Past the hallway on the right are a flight of stairs that a lead up to the champagne rooms, and the door out to the rest of the complex. To the left is another bar and a few tables. Past that in the center is the back stage with low stools on either side. Finally along the back wall is a group of 4 lap dance cubicles separated from the main room by swinging doors, They are just open end cubicles with side walls, the open ends of some of them face mirrors. Smoking is allowed. DaSani bottled water was $4.

Initially the club wasn’t very crowded but that changed as time went on and such a small space became crowded quite fast. There were about 20 dancers of various ethnicity. The dancers dance first on the front stage for two songs getting topless and then move to the rear stage for two more songs getting nude. Not much pole work in evidence. Lap dances are $20 per song payable to the dancer afterwards (except one dancer wanted the first song paid upfront). They were fine with asking if one wanted to continue at song breaks.

I had dances with 5 dancers. The first was a young Russian who was a very good conversationalist (language major in college). I did two songs with her but she was only a so-so lap dancer and seemed to not want her boobs touched. The second was a small thin oriental, foreign born by her speech, who was extremely aggressive but not really so much in the lap dance, did 2 songs. The third was the best, called herself a “Caribbean Chocolate”, and indeed was a nice chocolate brown and by her speech from one of the former British West Indies. Instead of asking if I was a “boob or ass” man she asked “boob or bum” man, very British I thought. I did 4 songs with her, very sensual but not really all that physical. The fourth was a Latina, two rather average songs. The last was a white American, the most physical of them all and the only one who did any stick shifting, but had bad breath and only did one song.
