I got turned down by a dancer... WTF!

So very odd experience. First the physical club. Large building, large parking lot, relatively empty this later afternoon (about 3pm). Go in, give cute girl door ID, been in before, so no charge, tip and get wrist band. When you enter bar is to your left, stage to your right. Go down the steps (area around stage is a pit and lower then rest of club) have a seat and order a ginger and whiskey. Once i have my drink, note that of the dozen or so dancers, the one on stage is hands down the hottest. Brunette, with either phenomenal natural boobs or tasteful implants. Go up and tip her 5 or 6 dollars and invite her over. She comes right over, orders a drink and we engage in some typical stripper chat. She never ask about dances but is relatively handsy and doesn't seem to be bothered by same from me. Well 20 mins or so pass and I have a dinner reservation so I ASK FOR A DANCE! Weirdest thing ever, especially when she says, "no, not this time." I was like WTF? She says that she might next time I am in, but doesn't like dancing first time she meets someone. Truly a strange interaction. We talked a few more minutes, she paid for her own drink and then I had to leave.

I left genuinely confused and befuddled. Never had this happen. Thoughts? Explanation? I'm at a loss.
