Saturday afternoon

I visited Cheetah’s Pompano on Saturday afternoon February 22, 2020 from about 2 to 3:45 pm. It’s a standalone building on 31st avenue NW a couple of blocks north of Atlantic Blvd. There is a large fenced parking lot (barbed wire on the top of the fence!) and a $2 charge for self-parking, valet also available. It’s in an industrial area. Parking lot was about a quarter to a third full this afternoon. Entering there was no cover, no ID check or security check. It was very dark inside and it took several minutes for my eyes to adjust for the transition from the Florida sunshine outside. The entrance is in the center of a long side of the building. To the right of the entrance was a small buffet setup not being used at this time and a display of cigars for sale, smoking is allowed. The dancers’ dressing room is in the right front corner of the building and beyond along the right wall are the restrooms and what looked like the entrance to the kitchen. Further away from the wall and taking up about half the depth of the club was a large bar in a hollow rectangle shape with a stage with pole in the center. Further to the back on the right is a raised area with a smaller bar along the right wall and a small narrow rectangular stage with pole opposite to it with some tables and chairs. To the left of the entrance in the front and raised up a couple of steps is the lap dance area and another small stage. Further back on the left side is the main stage kind of an oblong shape with two poles and a couch on the back of it that didn’t seem to have any purpose. A tip rail and chairs was along part of the edge of the main stage and a lot of tables and chairs farther back. There were a bunch of TV’s around the room showing an XFL game, they were going to show the heavyweight championship fight later that evening.

Waitresses efficiently circulated. I was asked if I wanted to see the food menu but declined. I had bottled water, a generic bottle with a Cheetah’s label put on it, for $4.25, keep the change obviously. I would guess there were about 50 customers and they did a parade of all the dancers at about 2:30 in which I counted about 15. Actually it seemed not really quite enough dancers for the number of customers. They had dancers on 3 of the 4 stages all during my visit and I think they added the 4th stage about the time I left. The DJ was constantly telling which dancer to go where, I didn’t notice any particular rotation. I think that when I went with a dancer to the lap dance area the attendant there communicated to the DJ that that dancer wasn’t available for awhile. I spent most of my time near the main stage. On there the dancers mostly did 3 song sets with topless in the second song and nude in the third. Not much pole work. Some attention given to customers tipping at the stage. I don’t know how one tipped the dancer on the stage in the middle of the bar, I didn’t see any tip walk but wasn’t looking too closely. The music was too loud and had a lot of power in the bass range.

The dancers were young and well built. Most appeared to be foreign born Latinas with little but adequate English. There was one named Tatiana which sounds Eastern European and at least one white American. I saw no AA. The dancers were not particularly aggressive in asking for dances. A fair number of dancers were doing table dances with customers, I think these were $10 but didn’t have any myself so am not sure. There was a 2 for 1 deal after the parade at 2:30, mostly this was table side dances for 2 songs which seemed normal length. There were no dancers on the stages during this time. There was also the 2 for 1 offer back in the lap dance area for “friction dances” which included a free tee shirt but didn’t see anybody taking them up on this. I didn’t do any of the 2 for 1 myself. The regular topless friction dance is $25 per song. No one asked about timed rooms which I’m sure are available and no one pitched extras.
