Solid, but bring gold
I went to Solid Gold in Pompano Beach on Thursday February 20, 2020 from about 7:30 to 10:30 pm. The club is located near the Atlantic Blvd exit from I95 (exit 36). Turn off Atlantic onto Andrews, which is parallel to the interstate and the first stop light west of the interstate, heading south and turn right after two blocks onto 2nd St. and then it’s a couple of blocks to the club. This is an industrial area and the surroundings are deserted at night. The club has a large well lighted and fenced parking lot. Valet is available or one can park by oneself for free.
The building is new looking and lavishly decorated both outside and in. Entering on a long side of the rectangular building I paid a cover of $10 (after 7 pm). No ID or security checks. Entering the main room for some reason there is baby grand piano painted red sitting on the floor! There is a long and narrow stage in the middle of the room parallel with the long axis of the building with two poles near the ends. There are also 3 small stages with vertical bars as a cage like effect but these were not in use while I was there. There are chairs along a tip rail on the sides of the main stage and back from the stage on both sides are rows of rectangular tables with 4 chairs each. Raised up along both sides are rows of booths. There are bars along both the short sides of the room. Restrooms are in the back right corner. Smoking is allowed and there was a display of cigars for sale. A number of TV screens were around the room, some showing Miami Heat basketball and some hockey.
Entering a server greeted me and I said I wanted to eat dinner and was led to the “Grille” which is on a row along the back side of the room up above the first row of booths. In this space is a row of tables and also a row of booths with privacy curtains. There was also a small bar next to here. The menu was similar to a fairly high class restaurant, I ordered the “catch of the day” fish for $35 and the quality and preparation were fine. I was the only one eating in the Grille and the maitre-d both seated and served me. I noticed that a fair number of people were being served food down on the main floor, there were food menus on the tables. Waitresses were efficiently circulating on the floor, I had water in a very fancy long-necked bottle for $6.50.
