You'll be hooked

Here are the basics, once again: Entrance is free during the day, with a $5 soft drink. No alcohol, but you can BYOB. Dance is $30, in very private VIP rooms, one-on-one, with a door. This is very definitely a daytime place. Been in the evening and it's a whole different (not nearly as good) vibe.

High-mileage, low-pressure. Usually one dancer on stage and dancers will come around asking for private dances. I don't find the dollar hustle a problem here, as it always comes with a little squeeze or the (in)famous Playhouse Handshake, a gentle grab from the dancer at your barstool. This is unlike other places where (mostly Russians, in my experience) come by and demand a dollar for nothing at all. PH is mostly Brazilian, with a few Americans here and there. Brazilian women love to please!

Crowd, like the dancers, is not young, which makes for a relaxed and well-behaved bunch. Not a suit and tie place, but not blue collar, either. Very chill, very middle of the road clientele. Full disclosure: I'm a fan!
