How do they stay open

After a recent stop at a neighboring club I found myself pulling into Dolls parking lot just after midnight on a Saturday hoping to enjoy a dance or two after not being successful at the other venue. The sign says new ownership or management and though the last few times I stopped here it was completely dead, this time the parking lot was packed and I naturally thought that something had improved.

After finding a spot on the parking lot (parking is free here) I made my way to the door and was greeted by an armed security guard who got up from his stool, opened the door and then followed me inside. I was asked to step through the metal detector which was new to me, the thing has been broken or not in use for years. I paid a $15 cover and then walked inside the club to find it almost completely empty! What were all of those cars in the parking lot for??? I made my way to the bar and ordered a beer, $7 I think and took a look around, there was a tiny AA dancer on stage and I spotted a group of girls at a table with two patrons and one other table with just one patron and one dancer. I took a seat at a table back from the stage and enjoyed my beer. A few sips into it a Danvers emerged from the back, she was simply not even close to my type. She didn’t take my telling her that I just wanted to watch the stage show well and sat down next to me anyhow. She started the usual have you been here before kick and I politely told her firmly that I was not looking for her company. She left.

I watched 3 different dancers get on stage and none were my type. I was about to leave when another dancer just sat down next to me and started rubbing my leg and asking me if I wanted dances. The layout of the club had changed and I noticed that the dance cubes on the far wall when you enter were no longer there. They have been converted to small open couch areas, VIP I suppose with tables for drinks in the center. I took this as an opportunity to ask where the dances take place now and the dancer pointed to the wall near the front door and told me that they have rooms back there now. In the past they only had one or two on that side, now they had six. As she rubbed my leg she continued to tell me that it’s still very private and that for just $20 a song it’s still a lot of fun. She asked if I would allow her to show me and I declined. Told her that I needed to get on the road and head home.

They did a mice job with the remodel inside, it does actually look much better and like it could be a lot of fun. If they can’t attract decent talent they won’t attract decent quantities of patrons and it will all be useless.
