My best visits (afternoon & evening return) to Mpire

This was going to be a review based on 2 recent visits: a recent afternoon visits to Mpire and an earlier visit about 10 days ago. But that attempt to visit Friday was unsuccessful. On Friday, the Mpire was closed with a paper sign on the door: “Closed for a private event” No hours were given for the closure so I don’t know if it was an afternoon or a night time closure or an all-day thing. Since I’d gone to the normal DC hassle of finding a parking spot, filling an expensive parking meter and then walking a few blocks to Mpire, I was annoyed. I did not see anything posted on their web site or any notice posted in the club during my last recent visit – last week. Anyone know what type of event led to an unannounced Friday closure? Very annoying and a waste of my time and energy.

So, this review will just cover last week’s visit though I will subtract 2 points from my overall rating based on the unannounced closing that showed no consideration for their normal customers – and I’m guessing Friday is often their busiest day.

My recent visit was the best so far. All 4 dancers were attractive, motivated, good dancers/pole workers and fun to be around. The bartender (Sara) is always a joy to talk to – very intelligent, down to earth (some of their employees can be snobby, Sara is not), attractive and engaging.

I arrived just after Happy Hour started (4pm) and I stayed longer than usual, had a few happy hour beers, left to get something to eat and then returned a bit later – about 8 pm. At 8pm, upstairs was open (downstairs closed) and that was my first visit upstairs. Upstairs is just as well turned out as downstairs and has much higher ceilings, so much higher stripper poles on the 2 stages – I’m guessing they were about 25 feet high. The two best afternoon dancers were still there (sorry I don’t remember their names, even after looking at the entertainers’ schedule from an earlier week – it’s not updated regularly) and several other attractive but not as stellar evening dancers.

They were not doing the Driver’s license ID in the machine routine. I find that very annoying – and was glad to not be asked to provide my driver’s license. I still don’t understand it’s value to the club – I know it has a significant negative value to me and some other Tusclers.
