Camelot
1823 M St NW Washington, DC 20036

Camelot is still good (by DC standards) but seems to be in a slow, long term decline.

I arrived about 4:30 pm on a Friday. Place was fairly crowded by lacking energy. I planned on visiting the Mpire a couple of doors down but it was “closed” for an “event.” Camelot had about twenty customers. As during the last few visits, a couple of the Camelot dancers were great (hot) but others we so-so. I’d never seen Mary Kate before, I thought she was stunning (9.5+) A few years ago, the ratio seemed reversed: mostly great dancers and a couple who were so-so. A few years back, Camelot didn’t allow dancers with tats or they could have a couple small ones if the covered them with makeup while the danced. That is no longer the case. While the dancers I think are hottest are still mostly tat free, others have lots of very large tattoos; one dancer’s back is fully covered with some tat art work with demons or something in it. That’s not at all to my taste; naked women’s skin is beautiful, tats (to me) never are. Some clearly take a lot of time and “talent” to ink on but it’s an “art” that messes up much better natural beauty. I only stayed for one beer. Aside for Mary Kate, the other dancers weren’t doing it for me and I headed elsewhere.

I guess I almost always stop by during the afternoon so I can’t comment on what Camelot is like at night. During the day it never seems too crowded. Business was clearly better 5 years ago. Several dancers say the club attracts a tougher crowd at night. Upstairs never seems to be open in recent years, I thought that was a better area – nice stages, tables, etc. Downstairs often seems cramped even with only a few dancers.

The bathroom is, of course, still ridiculously small but that is the way it always has been. It’s got to be the world’s smallest “two-hole bathroom” (urinal and toilet.) I am not sure why it was designed like it was, it seems nuts to me. At least it always fairly clean and functioning. But someday, a couple of guys are going to need help from the DC fire department to get out.
