Ghetto Darlings

Was hanging out with a buddy in North Beach. Since neither of us had been to Little Darlings we decided to check it out. $20 to get in, and there seemed to be a clump of employees at the door. A couple girls winking and stuff to get you in the door, and 2-4 bouncers. Once in the foyer, there were a few more workers. Another girl who seemed like a manager of some sort, and then another guy. This is important to note because it set the scene -- I thought this club was at once over-managed and under-managed.

My friend and I both thought the music was too loud. I know that sounds like an old guy complaint, but we're not that old. It was noticeably louder than other clubs, or even dance clubs. I couldn't pinpoint exactly what was off. Maybe a bad mixer? Was the treble hitting too hard? I literally winced during some songs, especially at the high end. Maybe a blown speaker somewhere in there? But the sound was a little unpleasant.

We took seats by the stage (other reviews describe the layout). The large mirrors on the wall behind the stage were full of hand-prints and smudges. The whole time we were there, I don't think I saw any girls grabbing the mirrors, so I assume these are old smudges. But there were a lot of them. I think that says something about the quality of the club.
