Hitting up the Downer

Its been a while since I last reviewed the Downer and not a whole lot of changes and usually a good time and certainly a lot better than anything in New York. Crossing the border is usually a snap this time of year as the tourists season is slowing. I always tell the agent that I am heading to the Casino and dinner and slip through in a matter of seconds. When heading to Downers it is a good idea to swing up to Lundy's Lane and hit one of the bank ATMs as they usually have a much better conversion from USD to CAD and it is not really out of the way. Also helps to keep track of how much cash you are dumping and the girl in the LD area will not convert the US $20. When spending CAD the dances are really only ~$15 US, so a good deal when you consider the mileage.

I stop in often and usually get to by-pass the license scan (which I personally hate) and then a quick pat down at the metal detector. Seeing that there have been 2 shootings in the parking lot this year, I am glad that they check those coming in for fire arms. The cover is usually $5 when I get there or free before 8 I think. Still not a deal killer.

The place is fairly large with a bar at the entrance, a large main stage, some smaller stages for when the crowds get bigger and LD areas on each side of the main room. Girls are fairly friendly and usually approachable. I am not into the Eastern Euros and there are always a few and are usually the pushiest, but still a lot of Canadians and a mix of other ethnicities, shapes and sizes. Beers are like $7 and you can buy a girl a drink at the same price you would pay, but most like top shelf , still most are happy to just sit and talk for a few minutes in hope of getting you in the back room for a LD.
