OK, so my last visit to Christies-Phoenix was at least 8 years ago, but I wanted to check out the renovation and see how dayshift stacks up. The outside looks the same to me, but they have made some changes inside. They have eliminated that big staircase that used to lead down from the second level to the stage. Dancers would make a dramatic entrance by coming down those stairs, and it was actually pretty cool when they did a stage call and all of the dancers came down at once, as if descending from a cloud. The stage has now been moved to the center of the room, and is accessible from all sides. They have also filled in the sunken area near the south end bar so the room is all one level. There is new pinkish lighting, upscale bathroom fixtures, and all of the other dressy amenities you expect in most Christies properties. The stage has a single pole about 20 feet to the ceiling, and that goofy hula hoop think for the dancers to hang on. The DJ is upstairs, overlooking the stage, but occasionally went out on the floor with a hand mic to announce the girls, and I guess get the crowd excited (such as it was...).

I went in at 3:00pm, cover was $7, which would have included a lunch buffet if I was hungry. There appeared to be about a dozen dancers working, and I saw more coming in while I was there. All looked reasonable attractive, although I was surprised how much ink some of them sported. There were a couple of AAs, a few Latinas, and the rest white. There are now two stairways that lead to the second level, which is where you can get VIP dances for $25 per, or the champagne rooms, which appear to have a silver bead curtain in the doorway for privacy. I didn’t go upstairs on this visit, and didn’t inquire about champagne room pricing, but it is probably similar to the Tempe location.

I planted under the stairway farthest from the entrance (used to be where the men’s room was, it is now relocated near the entrance). Most every dancer that walked by stopped to ask if they could join me. There were only about a half dozen PLs in the place, so I didn’t have to fight for anyone’s attention. All were very friendly, and generally recent transplants from other clubs. Surprisingly, several told me they had come from Alaska Bush Company, which might explain the amount of ink. I got floor dances ($10ea) from three different dancers. All gave a good grind on the floor, with some discrete OTP rubbing, and hinted that more touching was available upstairs. Nobody hit me up for extra tips, and gladly accepted the $20 I gave them for two dances. Overall the talent present on this day was just OK, no stunners in the group in my humble opinion. I think once the word gets out that they are open again, the dayshift will get busier, and may become a good regular stop in Phoenix. It is annoying to pay a daytime cover, but the food looked really good even if I didn’t have any. I give the newly renovated CCP a moderate thumbs up based on this visit, and expect it will improve if they can keep good dancers in the house.
