Visited: Saturday Evening

Dropped into Subi's for Saturday evening shift after I briefly visited the Cricket. Cricket was absolutely slammed because of some Hawaiian Luau thing they were doing. They had a free buffet set up, but there was nowhere to sit so I left immediately. Not a review of Cricket but it's worth noting that the door guy gave me back my cover since I was in an out, They were cool about it and I'll be back to that place soon.

So after leaving Cricket and not wanting to deal with the absurd prices at FC I took a stroll downriver to Subi's. This place, as has been noted many times, tends to be pretty hit or miss. Tonight I actually did both. The overall feel if you have not been is more like a bar than a strip club, with the stage in the middle and dance rooms in the front and back of the club. Dances up front are 20 per song typically, and are topless. Back room dances are full nude (if the dancer is willing) and typically 25 per song. I vastly prefer VIP in the back, but every club has a "thing" to watch out for/be aware of, and for Subi's it's the VIP fee. Every girl apparently needs to pay a $60 fee the first time they use the back rooms on any given night, and most of them try to get you to pay for it. Play your cards right and negotiate BEFORE going back, and you can usually get a good price. Just be sure to set clear expectations about the fee being included in the cost, not a separate fee.

On this particular night there were around 20 dancers, decent mix and pretty standard fare for Subi's (which is to say not FC level talent but a noticeable step up from Bogies or H8). Place was pretty busy (not as packed a Cricket but still nearly full) and I grabbed a seat at one of the tables surrounding the stage rather than pay the $20 booth fee. I was approached almost immediately by a very thin blonde. I don't like calling out stage names, but it starts with a D. She was a little skinny for my usual taste but she seemed nice, and I was amazed she sat down before a waitress even got to me, so I chatted her up a bit. We talked for about 5 or 10 minutes and she eventually asked if I wanted a dance. I brought up my preference for VIP and full nude, and she seemed a bit hesitant. She tried to sell me on a regular dance up front, but when I didn't bite, she eventually agreed on the VIP as long as I committed to 3 songs so she wouldn't be empty handed after the fee. I felt that was perfectly reasonable, so away we went. It was extremely unsatisfying. For one, while she DID technically get fully naked, she also danced in a way where I never got to see anything. Not to sound like a creep, but I'm a visual guy and if we're paying extra for the purpose if full nude I want the show I paid for. Also, we arrived at the booth in the middle of a song and after it finished, she danced for one more and tried to tell me that was 3. I explained that it was 1 full song, and one half song, and she agreed to continue for one more dance. She didn't argue, but it still killed what little mood there was left. Lesson learned for me, next time a dancer is so reluctant to go in the back, I'm just going to turn them down outright. Unenthusiastic dances are a total waste of money.
