Stopped in after a Twins game to use my ticket for free cover (usually $16 including soft drink). Had not been to Choice at night for 6-9 months and went in with low expectations with how slow things have been there even on weekend nights. I was really only hoping to dish out some stage tips and see if any new talent had popped in since my last visit.

I was pleasantly surprised to see a long time fave was there that night, but there could not have been more than 5 or 6 other dancers there at 10:30 on a Saturday night with a lot going on in downtown Minneapolis. In the 45 minutes that I was there, not one dancer was on stage. Door and bar staff were quite indifferent in their service.

Thank goodness my fave was there and quickly found me. Seeing how dead it was, I quickly suggested we go to the dance couches. She's always good for some convo before we get to the main event and she wasted no time in telling me that the club had recently been sold. She said that Choice as it has been for the past 25 years probably only has a couple months left. No decisions have been made on what the property will continue as. It may still be a strip club, but could also be converted to a regular night club (which the space was before Choice) or a restaurant. The recent gentrification of the neighborhood does open up a lot of possibilities and had to provide some value for the building. But it also has some major maintenance needs, including a leaky roof. It's not uncommon to see buckets on the floor collected drips on rainy days.
