All those thinking HL is back to normal...not so fast
Been reading this club is allegedly on the uptick, so I thought I'd stop by. Got there just before noon, not the usual Saturday cool bouncer but a younger kid. He politely wished me a nice day, no pat down or cover charge as always. Decided to sit against the wall now that dances are $10 again. Had plenty of light to find my own seat, and thought I had made a wrong turn on Highland and ended up at the Phoenix Library instead of Hi-Liter. Absolutely no music playing, house lights up like it's closing time. Apparently, we have no DJ, though one is "on the way."
Saw one old familiar face, then hunkered to wait this thing out. Finally, 30 minutes into th visit, the DJ moseyed on in, lights were dimmed, music started up and a very limited number of dancers became available. I say that because not one dancer actually asked if I wanted a dance. My one regular came over to me after she finished with dude she was with originally, and we chatted for a bit.
Apparently, club has been slow, and this girl who normally easily makes bank every shift actually cleared just $6 one day this week. She spoke with owner about loosening up, as so many regulars have taken off with the wind, but, according to the dancer, the owner said there wouldn't be any changes until they got that stupid fucking liquor license for Centerfolds.
