Two Steps Back
I made one of my sporadic stops at Fannies yesterday. I’ll probably never go back.
During my last couple of visits, it seemed things were on an upswing. There had been some minor remodeling and the dancer staff and been plussed up with some new, younger, good looking dancers. It now seems they have taken two steps back.
As usual, no cover for my daytime visit on a Thursday afternoon at about 4:00. There were only five dancers working, all white, all average looking, at best. One of the dancers asked me if I knew about the “recent changes.” When I said no, I was given a briefing. The club has now gone to an “employee” model—dancers are W2 employees instead of independent contractors. Dances are now $15. The club takes all of it, keeps $5, and returns $10 to the dancers as pay, after withholding taxes. VIPs are now $250, allegedly non-negotiable. This includes the $50 house fee, and $200 for the dancer, of which the club takes $100!
