Sands Dying a Slow Death
Wasn't sure if this place was even still operating with all the gentrification that's been transforming Ballard over the last few years. Walked in and was surprised the door was open and music was playing but only saw a light-skinned AA chatting with the bartender, or rather, the coffee pourer. She casually sauntered over and asked if i wanted a dance and i said i wanted to hang for a bit before deciding. With that she scampered off and i was left looking at an empty stage for the next half hour. If other dancers were present on this day, they were hiding in the back as i only saw the one dancer during my whole visit.
Anyway, she returned just as i was about to call it a day and asked again if i wanted dances. Decided to give her a spin in that long tunnel area in the back with the long benches on either side. Dances were ok but she was just way too chatty for me to enjoy it. Seemed very goal oriented but to me, it was just a turn off. Not sure how anyone makes any dough with the total lack of customer traffic within. Pretty boring, lifeless visit. Sands looks like its on life support. Wouldn't be surprised to see developers turns this place condos within 5 years.
