Not great but would go back
I recently visited Flash Dancers (the location on West 45th street near 8th avenue) on a sultry summer Friday afternoon. I was coming from a disappointing visit to another club, which I have beenvisiting recently where there were virtually no dancers and the ones that were there were a great disappointment. Just the opposite at Flash Dancers. There were at least a dozen dancers. At least 3 were performing on stage at any one time. Not all were good looking but I would say half at least were very acceptable. The group was also quite diverse – ethnically, body type. The average age seemed a little lower than some other clubs in the neighborhood. One of the dancers I talked to said it was her first day on the job. That was probably a come on but there did seem to be a lack of experience in the group.
The general ambience of the club was interesting. The street façade clearly proclaims that this is a strip joint. The place was clean and brighter lit than a typical club. The décor was sort of low budget reminding one of a typical suburban non strip club bar. The interior spaces I saw included a very long bar with seating for about 20 and a separate very spacious lounge area with a small stage for two dancers. I was escorted to the lounge area, where most of the dancers and customers were.
I had two dances with two separate dancers. The dancers were pretty friendly and did a serviceable but uninspiring job. They did not go out of their way (eg, no bending of the rules and no grace notes or little gestures to show some interest) and I didn’t see the point of opting in to more than one dance. Dances were $20. My beer was $5 and there was a $3 coat check fee.
My general reaction to the place was positive, especially since my initial visit to the other club was so fruitless. The appearance and friendliness of the dancers was positive. I would go back.
