I only had time for a quick drop in to LDL, but I left intrigued and will make a point to come back soon. I’m only in Portland for a couple months for work and am going to try to hit a few different places while I’m here.
LDL is about a mile from my hotel and pretty close to the streetcar. It’s right off the Ross Island bridge in an industrial part of town by the river, but overall the area is pretty clean and I didn’t have any concerns parking in the lot, or with the entrance.
I was there around 3:00 on a Thursday so no cover. Had to take a leak as soon as I got there, the toilet seat looked busted, but otherwise the bathroom was pretty clean. There were between 5-10 patrons in the place, a couple were women. The bartender was friendly and checked my ID.
The place is not huge, there’s an average size stage in one corner, and lotto machines on the other side of the bar. Since I was only in for a short time I sat at one of the stage seats and just chatted with the girls as they did their routines. All three girls were in the 8-9 range, two were white, and one was some kind of tan skinned beauty with long dreadlocks. All three dancers were super friendly to me. I asked the one about her ballet shoes and she said she didn’t do ballet, but they were allowed to wear flat shoes instead of stilettos. That to me means management does little things to make their dancers happy, and happy dancers can make a big difference in the quality of a place.
I plan on going back when I have some more time and see what the LDs are like, but overall it was a nice way to kill an hour after work.
