Went to Mile High on a Tuesday afternoon. Arrrived at 1:30 thinking they opened at 1:00. sign said "No. Wait to 2:00 pm" So I drove north for a 1/4 of a mile, find a Soul food restuarant that featured "North Carolina barbaque" -- the kind with no tomatoes in the sauce. Small sandwich with coleslaw was $6.40. Good way to kill some time. Went back at 2:20 pm. Five dancers in the room, with one on stage. bought my $6 beer and sat down at one end of the rectuangualar stage. The dancer immediately retreats to the far end of the stage where no one is sitting. I thought she might have a regular sitting at that end of the bar. But nope, just two women. When she finished her set I got up and went to the bar. Started a conversation with a young woman who said she just started working at Mile High two weeks ago to earn some extra money. She works at Fuego during the night, but needs extra income to go to school in August. Had a nice conversation, but she said she could not get up on the stage until she is called by the DJ. No one is being called to the stage. When she leaves the bar to go hide out in the Dressing Room, I decide to leave (after going back over to the stage and waiting for another ten minutes). As I leve the place three cars with three guys and a potential dancer pull into the parking lot. Moral of the story. Don't go before 3:30 pm and don't buy a $6 beer if no one wants to dance for you. By the way, I showered last night, so I didn't have BO. I must have looked like I had the plague. :-)
