Unicorn hunting fail.

I was traveling back to home from work in St. Louis and decided to stop off at Dollie’s to see if I could get lucky in the sense that we all know about Dollie’s as well as seeing if there would be a unicorn there as has been reported from time to time.

The building is on the far outskirts of Washington Park. Seriously, out past the building it’s farm fields, which in this case also means that the road becomes a pothole strewn tire killing fest, drive at your own risk. The parking lot has a camera on it but God knows if anyone is actually watching it and the building itself looks like a roadhouse that has see much better days. You go in and pay a (2?3?) dollar cover and then the bar is to your right. The stage is FAR to the back and is dark so you can’t quite pick out any details and the famous beads and the pool table are to your left.

The club itself is a little worn, but nothing outside of what would be expected for this part of town, I got a beer for ($5?$6?) and then settled in to see what the day would bring. And the day brought no unicorns. The dancers seemed friendly enough but I just wasn’t attracted to any of them. They were either too big or in the case of the one who was not too big, too strung out on something I could not identify. I decided after about five minutes that I wasn’t interested and disinterestedly took a few pulls on my beer before deciding to head out. The bartender saw me get up and asked where I was going(as if she didn’t know). I replied I was heading out to the car and went on my merry way, deciding to hit Wiseguys on the way out to see if my luck would be better.

I see why this spot exists and I went there a few years ago and found a unicorn so I know it can be done, but today was not that day.
