Oh four too
I am not a fan of negativity, but the is not a lot of good things to say about my last two visits to the Silver Cricket. The good, free and easy parking, an entrance that isn’t exposed to the fairly heavy traffic that travels Michigan Ave (contrary to Bogarts where you can be spotted by a passer by), no cover, smoking only in a designated, closed room and a two beer bucket of imports for a reasonable $11 plus tip. I also appreciate that I can typically find a small table to sit - the bar is such an odd spot to sit because you have your back to the one stage they use and turning your chair 180 degrees to watch the show is very awkward. I understand the food is decent here and many patrons order food. I don’t eat in clubs.
So the bad, just not enough dancers and those that were here on the last two visits, one a Tuesday and one a Thursday were not circulating at all. Pixie was in the house and she always does a fabulous job on stage, but she had a regular in a booth on the Tuesday visit and at least three other dancers were locked in with regulars. I had some money to spend but not unlimited time. As a result, I decided to finish my second beer and move along after about 45 minutes. On both cricket visits, I went from cricket to bogarts, dreading the smoke, but knowing that if I didn’t set my standards high, I would find available dancers to spend money on. This isn’t a Boggie review. As to the cricket, I suspect I will continue to stop in because the cost is so low and a couple of import beers and a few girls on stage for $11 isn’t a bad thing, and sometimes there are opportunities to spend some money on a lady. Just disappointed that it hasn’t worked out the last two visits. Still, hopping back in the car and driving a couple of miles to the next place is not a hardship. Hoping the success rate improves so I can stay smoke free the next time.
