Nothing To See Here Folks
I finished up some business in Atlantic Beach and stopped by Thee Officer’s Club at about 1:30 p.m. on a Tuesday. Previous reviews have described the area as somewhat sketchy, but it didn’t seem that way to me. The club is located in a nondescript building on a corner plot adjoining a major highway and what looks like an entrance to a residential area.
I was encouraged that there were several cars parked in front, but looks can be deceiving. There was no one manning the door and no cover. This club is basically a long rectangle with the entrance in the middle of one of the long sides. The bar is along the opposite wall from the entrance. There is a small runway stage projecting from the right wall; a second, narrow rectangular stage in front of that one; and then a smaller, satellite stage to the left. None of the stages were in use.
I took at seat at the bar and ordered a beer, which was a reasonable $3. There were only two other customers, a middle-aged couple, sitting at the far end of the bar. They were apparently friends with the bartender, who hung out at that end of the bar talking to them.
