Solid club, but some things I don't like.

I've been to Rouge a few times, though its been several months since my last visit. Rouge is a solid vegas-style club. I think its owned by the same people that own Deja Vu, so its that kind of vibe. More of a night-club than a bar. Of course, its in downtown Portland, so it tends to be busier and girls seem to be more on the hustle. On that note, it seems like the patrons tend to be more like tourists, and bar-hoppers that happen to be downtown, as opposed to the neighborhood clubs that have more regulars.

There's a main stage with two poles in the shape of a figure eight, with a couple stages on the side. In general, the place is pretty upscale. There are private dance areas in the back, and you have to check in with their staff to rent the room. Its usually the dancers responsibility to pay the room fee, but often they'll ask you to cover it. I think its about $10 or so for three songs. There are also VIP rooms upstairs that are more private. Both areas are just couches separated by curtains. Regular dances are $40 per song, or $100 for three songs. VIP is $300 for half-hour. Do not pay with a credit card, they will slap you with crazy fees. The bathrooms are gender-neutral here. The bathroom sink is one room that is shared for men and women, then its one stall per person.

I think the cover was either $3 or $5 after 9pm on Friday and Saturday. It gets really crowded after about 10pm on the weekends. You cannot even find a seat. Most of the music tends to be Top 40 Hip Hop, which I don't mind, but I'm tired of hearing the same songs that are mostly meaningless, and I like Hip Hop. I've found that other clubs have a better variety of music.
