Strikeout!
Went to Christie’s Cabaret Cleveland on Sunday afternoon May 19, 2019. I had been to the Indians game, where their young pitcher threw a complete game shutout against the Baltimore Orioles with 15 strikeouts. Unfortunately I am an Orioles fan! Christie’s opens at 4 pm on Sunday and I went over after the game arriving about 5. Location in the “flats” is sort of under this long and high bridge. The large parking lot has a booth to collect a $10 parking fee. This lot is shared with I think 4 other music, I.e. not strip, clubs that are adjacent. There was nobody collecting the $10 when I arrived but there was someone there when I left about 6:30. They have a free “limo” service, really a van. These clubs are across the street from the Nautica outdoor concert venue and the Cleveland aquarium. The club is very fancy both outside and inside. It’s in a stand alone building with fancy turrets and such. Outside are a number of pseudo-Roman erotic statues. Inside on the walls are numerous landscape paintings in a sort of 18th or 19th century style. Entering the 2 story high main room the bar is ahead and the stage in the center of the room to the left with a number of tables between the bar and stage and chairs along the tip rail. The stage was sort of oval shaped with the one pole on a smaller circular second stage raised up a few steps above the center of the main stage. A flight of stairs from the second level leads down to the stage which is guess is where the dancers make their entrance. There were booths along the walls and what looked like theme rooms on the second level surrounding the main space. Pretty dark and the stage lighting looked like it was somewhat subdued. Signs on the tables listed dance prices as $10 table dance, $30 one song, $75 three songs, Champagne room $250 half hour, $460 one hour. I suppose smoking is allowed as there was a cigarette vending machine near the rest rooms.
When I arrived the girl at the desk initially said $5 cover, but then said wait cover is based on number of dancers, no charge go on in. Indeed cover based on number of dancers as there were zero dancers! I sat and as I was hungry ordered dinner. A nice feature of their dinner menu was that when you opened it an internal light came on so one could see it in the dark room. I had a glass of orange juice for $4 and a strip steak and baked potato for $21, which was the most expensive item on the menu. It was OK for this price. The servers were cute and easy to talk to. There were a handful of other customers. Only one woman dressed as a dancer appeared, who spent the entire time hanging out at the bar with a couple of the customers. About 6:30 I bailed. Summary, nice looking place, had a decent dinner, but I should have just gone to a restaurant.
