Not what I hoped for
My first experiences in strip clubs was as a young adult at Mario's Showplace in Johnston. The older I've gotten and the more time I've spent visiting clubs, the more nostalgic I have gotten for the old Mario's. So, yeah, I was pretty excited when I was in the neighborhood of this Mario's and decided to stop in for the first time. Sadly, I was disappointed.
The parking lot is fairly small and there were some unsavory characters milling around. When I walked in, there was a $7 cover on a Saturday night. I had to walk past some smokers who were standing along the ramp of the entry way. After walking through the door, you are greeted by a bouncer standing next to a register. There is a small bar immediately on the right which seats only about six or seven people. To the left is a huge U-shaped stage which takes up the entire room. In between the stages were two tall tables. As you walk further into the club, beyond the stage, there is another room which is setup like a restaurant with a small stage in the middle. There are couches along the wall. Again, a very odd setup as the stage almost seems like it is in another room. There are menus on every table with a full menu. Again, it has a restaurant-feel with strippers as an afterthought.
Beyond the restaurant-like room is, I assume, the lapdance area.I say "assume" because I was never approached by any entertainer despite making solid eye contact with a couple of them from across the room. I sat at the stage when one of these girls I was interested in (and I thought she was interested in me as well) went up. After showering her with ones, she barely even engaged me in conversation. She never asked if I was interested in a dance nor gave off the vibe that she wanted to do one. I got the sense she was new, but still. Oh well, her loss.
