Bored in LA
I went searching for some local entertainment on a Tuesday night while I was out in LA for a work trip. I was jet lagged and looking for something to help me stay awake. I decided to check out The Jet Strip based on overall reviews that I had seen here on this site. Overall I was not disappointed.
I arrived at the club just before 6 pm. The timing couldn’t have been better because the cover charge increases from 6 to 11 dollars at 6 pm. It took a minute for my eyes to adjust. The transition from bright sunny California to dim, red/black light club was noticeable but quickly passed. I ordered a water from the “bar” (there’s no alcohol at the club) and the bill came out to $6.25. A little steep for a bottle of water, but if you save the label, it’s worth six dollars off your next cover charge (odd, but whatever). Also, it was “taco tuesday” where two beef or chicken tacos would set you back $2. While I passed, it seemed like most others (maybe 6 guys and a few dancers) were brave enough to eat them, so they probably weren’t too bad.
There’s only one stage to the club but there are three poles and two elevations. Most of the dancers danced in the lower “pit” area where people would throw their money. It’s a fully nude club. Each dancer would dance two songs, with the first being clothed and the second fully nude. There were probably 10 or so dancers dancing through a standard rotation. Ethnicities were mixed from Caucasian to Hispanic to Black. Private dances are typically $30 for topless and $40 for nude. For some reason, there was a “special” that night and topless dances were only $20.
