sinclair's Review
I was passing through Decatur on a Saturday evening, so I thought I’d stop off at Harley’s Gentlemen’s Club for a beer or two. Parking is on the street as there is no parking lot. I arrived at 19:20, not too long after the club opened. I was assessed a $10 cover at the door. I thought this was a little excessive at first because there were no dancers to be seen and no music playing. The door man told me it was Cannabis Culture night. Apparently every Saturday night at Harley’s is a “private event” where the patrons can smoke Mary Jane inside the strip club. Since I came in unprepared, the bartender even offered me a joint, but I turned it down. Strangely, one can smoke marijuana inside Harley’s, but one still has to go outside on the patio to smoke cigarettes. Bottles of Sincweiser are $4, sodas are $3, and bags of chips are $1.
The strip club is located right next to Final Gravity Brewing Company, which occupies one corner of the main intersection of the town. They even have one of Final Gravity’s beers on tap. When you enter, the front has a pool table to the right and a bar on the right going forward. The larger back room is full of tables and barrel chairs along with a few booths. There is a T-shape stage along the back wall that is less than a foot off of the ground. The runway of the T has a pole at the end. The two smaller sides of the T each have a chopper motorcycle on display. The interior was actually a lot nicer than one would expect for a small town titty bar. From the outside, I thought Harley’s would look more like a run-down dive bar.
Dancers go topless, but must wear pasties over their tits. It seems that the club gets between four and six dancers on a typical night. Decatur is a small town, so dancer quality is average at best. Lap dances are $20 per song. You can touch the dancers, but you cannot touch their breasts or between their legs. The private dances take place in a hallway that was built along the left wall in the bar area. Music is played from a TouchTunes jukebox, but there also appears to be a DJ booth next to it. The manager would use it to call out the dancers names when they went onto the stage. The dancers did three song sets on the stage.
