Maybe it's just the city

Went to Brass Rail tonight (Saturday) and it was as mediocre as ever. The average dancer rating was clearly around 6-7 for me, with only one or two exceptions.

It's always annoying paying $10.75 for a bottle of beer in a place as lame as this. I honestly think a club like BR could only work in a city like Toronto where people passively accept whatever tripe is given to them without pushing back. There was a time way back when Toronto was known as a good SC town. When I go to Tampa or Las Vegas, it amazes me how much better the experience is and I can't understand how people like BR. The dances here are almost airdances compared to some of the better US clubs and they don't even play good music here because for some reason they are scared that will attract a bad crowd.

The biggest thing about BR is how the dancers' attitudes match the city's attitude. Canada is a feminist country and the dancers here can give you a mediocre airdance and most guys will hand over $20s like they just got the best bargain in the world. I love our health care and universities but man, we Canucks can be pushovers sometimes.
