Bigger is not better
My friends and I have been going to Dallas cabaret north for some time. That is an excellent black dive club. We thought we should check out their sister club, the original Dallas cabaret.
This place is a scant few blocks away from the main Harry Hines drag. There is parking all around the single story structure. You may have to walk a bit if you parked for free on the far side. Cover was high (I think it was $30 a head) but we came late on a Saturday night. The thing that kills me was that they wanted $250 for a table. This club seems like 3 or 4 times the size of Dallas cabaret north, and it was packed when we went. We had to pay just to sit down at the opposite corner from the entrance. This area got little traffic from the dancers and yet plenty of smoke due to questionable enforcement of the municipal laws.
No private dances for our group as this was more of a make it rain kind of establishment. All talent and almost all customers were black. Music was entirely a southwest flavor of hip hop. While there were plenty of customers, the energy level was not as high as Dallas cabaret north on a weeknight.
