Spring training really sucks
I have been in a bit of a rut lately - always visiting Sugar 44 when I am going to a club in Phoenix. Though Sugar 44 is friendly, the quality of talent is several steps below what you can find at Bourbon Street. So last week on Wednesday, I thought that I would head to the dark caverns of Bourbon Street for some free popcorn and to see (after my eyes adjusted) some of the finest strippers that Phoenix has to offer.
I am only half kidding when I refer to the caverns of Bourbon Street - for the unfinished, the place is unreasonably dark. I am not sure what is up with that - there certainly is no need to cloak the spectacular talent that you find here in darkness. But if you give your eyes a few minutes to adjust when you get in, you should be able to find a seat without bumping into a few tables along the way.
The club seemed a bit busier than usual for mid afternoon on a weekday. I assume that is because of visitors in town for spring training. And unfortunately, the crowd exasperated the biggest problem with Bourbon Street - though you can theoretically get dances at your table for $10 a song (versus $20 a song in VIP), most dancers simply aren’t willing to give floor dances. When there is a good crowd and not enough dancers, basically you will only see dancers briefly on stage before they disappear into VIP with someone who found them first.
